Before launching into connecting CROSSMEMBER to your Club MailChimp account, it’s worth understanding how CROSSMEMBER and MailChimp interact and how you might wish to arrange your existing subscriber lists within MailChimp – assuming you already have a MailChimp account.

If you don’t have a MailChimp account, then there really is only one prerequisite – head over to mailchimp.com and get one.

So, if you’re this far, then you already have a Club MailChimp account and you want to connect it to CROSSMEMBER. So what will CROSSMEMBER do with MailChimp?

Put simply, CROSSMEMBER will create a new list (called “CROSSMEMBER”) in your MailChimp account. It will then populate that list with all your Club members that have email addresses and are either paid-up or overdue. CROSSMEMBER will create groups within the list to help you email segments of your list AND as you make changes within CROSSMEMBER, those changes will be reflected in MailChimp – always up to date.

So what does this mean?

Well, what you need to be aware of is that MailChimp has a subscriber limit of 2,000 subscribers on the FREE plan, so if you already have a collection of lists in your MailChimp account, then adding in a new list could blow this limit. If this is the case, then you might wish to do some housekeeping first. If you want to delete existing lists – perhaps old membership lists, then it is always wise to export the list first as a backup – always backup before deleting anything!

Once you’re ready and you have room for your new membership list, then continue to connect CROSSMEMBER to MailChimp.
