Setting up a Direct Debit Mandate with GoCardless is totally under the control of your members and they can set up their Direct Debit either:

  1. When they join the Club via their joining form
  2. When they renew their membership
  3. Any other time when the member visits their membership record

The Joining/Renewing Form

When the member reaches the bottom of the form where they select their payment method, they have a light blue information box with a “Tell me more” button which will give them additional information about paying by Direct Debit, and the “Direct Debit” payment option button. Clicking the “Direct Debit” payment button will give the member a summary of what will happen and what to do next.

When the member saves the form, two things will happen.

  1. The information will be saved to the Club database
  2. The member will be redirected to the secure GoCardless website to set-up their mandate.

Of course, the “Wire Wheels Webbers” will be the name you registered your Club with when you signed up to Direct Debit and “Club Two Membership Fees” will be “<Your Club Name> Membership Fees”.

Notice that your member’s details have been forwarded to GoCardless to pre-populate the form so all your member needs to do is supply their sort-code and account number – making the whole process smooth and simple.

When your member clicks the green “Set up Direct Debit” form, they will be presented with a confirmation screen:

After confirming that the details are correct, your member will be returned to CROSSMEMBER

And that’s it! CROSSMEMBER has requested the first payment immediately (as soon as the mandate is active) and has set-up a regular annual subscription that will be requested one week before their membership is due to expire.

You can check the current status of the member’s payment from their membership record, and their membership will only be activated once payment has been paid out from GoCardless to the Club.
